Your environment: the preset and your own estate

The preset is an example with 8 workloads or servers, 3 databases and 5 TB of data. It shows which inputs move a plan. It is not a benchmark and not a typical customer.

Estate sizePlanning band
Small4 to 8 weeks
Medium8 to 16 weeks
Large4 to 6 months

The preset's 14-week estimate falls in the medium band. Your own band depends on your inventory, not on the preset. The bands are planning ranges, not commitments.

Migration strategy, and what the project price depends on

  • Rehost: move the workload largely as it is.
  • Replatform: change some parts to use managed services, without redesigning the application.
  • Refactor: redesign the application for cloud-native operation.

For the full set of six options, read The 6 R's of Cloud Migration, Explained.

The project price moves with the number and complexity of workloads, the dependencies between them, database engines, size and downtime tolerance, data volume and transfer method, the strategy mix, the testing and cutover scope, and the security review. This page does not price any of those.

Savings arithmetic, and what this page does not price

Savings in this tool are a run-rate effect after the move. They are not a migration cost. The arithmetic is:

Monthly savings = current monthly AWS spend at list price × 15–35% on compute and storage, plus up to 40% on CloudFront bandwidth.

Worked example: current spend of $10,000 a month, all of it compute and storage. At 15% the saving is $1,500 a month. At 35% it is $3,500 a month. Two conditions apply. The percentages are measured against list price, so spend already discounted by a commitment or a reseller moves less. And these are estimates, not a quote.

AWS funding programs may apply; eligibility is AWS's decision. This page does not estimate funding and does not include it in any figure.

To get a quote, we need a workload list, a database list with engines and sizes, the data volume, current monthly AWS spend, target Regions, and any compliance or security requirements. We scope from those inputs, run discovery, and then quote the defined scope in USD. Taxes apply as applicable in your jurisdiction and the contract.

Limits. No project price appears on this page. No downtime promise is made here; cutover windows are agreed per project.
