What was broken?

Three problems compounded one another. Data sat in separate systems, so no one saw the whole subscriber picture. Reporting took days, so decisions waited for it. Every new question went back to the data team. Any fix had to solve all three without letting cloud spend run away.

What was built?

  • A cloud data warehouse and streaming pipelines that bring data together under one governance model.
  • Self-serve BI for business teams, built on Power BI or Looker.
  • Governance, access controls and cost guardrails on the platform itself.
  • Continuous FinOps to keep spend in line with actual use.

Three design choices made the platform usable:

  1. Access before dashboards. Decide who may query which dataset before the first dashboard goes live. Governed access is what lets business teams answer their own questions.
  2. Guardrails on query and storage. Cost controls belong in the platform from day one, not in a later clean-up.
  3. One centre of gravity. Keep the platform on one cloud. Running the same telemetry in two clouds adds cost and puts subscriber data under two sets of controls.

What do the numbers mean?

  • 10×. Reporting that took days now takes minutes. This is a representative figure for the engagement, not a guarantee.
  • Petabyte. The warehouse is petabyte scale. That describes storage capacity, not a performance claim.
  • Spend. The case reports that platform spend stayed under control through continuous FinOps. No savings percentage is published for this case. Ask for one against your own FinOps baseline before you build a budget on it.

This case does not establish operator-level results. It describes a delivery, not the operator's own performance. It also does not establish regulatory compliance: telecom and data-protection rules differ by country, and data-protection rules may apply to subscriber data as applicable in your jurisdiction. This page is not legal advice. Confirm applicable requirements with your counsel and compliance team.

Figures are representative of TiCON engagements.
