What did the platform have to survive?

Live sport and seasonal programming produced large, sudden demand. The service needed playback that held up at hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers, strong protection for premium rights, and bandwidth costs that did not climb in step with the audience. Each of those needs pulled the design in a different direction, so the engagement treated them together.

What was built?

  • BlessBit, TiCON's own OTT streaming engine, deployed for adaptive HLS, DASH and CMAF, covering both live and on-demand.
  • A hybrid CDN: CloudFront at the edge, blended with private cache nodes in local data centers.
  • Multi-DRM with Widevine, PlayReady and FairPlay, plus geo-blocking for premium rights.
  • Reseller CloudFront pricing to keep peak bandwidth cost down.

How to read the results

The platform sustained more than 500,000 concurrent viewers through peak events, and playback held through the peak window. Premium content stayed protected across the device set in scope. We describe edge delivery as low-latency; we do not publish a millisecond figure, because this case does not record one.

CDN cost fell about 40 percent against list pricing. Read that as an upper bound for this engagement, not as the saving your bill will show.

What this case does not establish: a latency figure for your audience, a saving that applies to every catalogue, or playback quality on your rights, devices and networks. Those have to be measured on your own delivery path.

Figures are representative of TiCON engagements and may be anonymized.
